Version history

The list below contains links to the release notes for each version of MIX, staring with the last version:

Version 1.7

March 2008. Fixes a calculation bug of heterogeneity tests for Mantel-Haenszel odds ratios, shows the beginning of the new interface of 2.0 and includes additional features such as a quality effects model. Release notes here.

Version 1.61

August, 2007. Some small fixes of a bug when calling forest plots and a calculation bug with comparative data input. Release notes here.

Version 1.6

Release data: August, 2007. Some real changes under the hood, though nothing major yet. More options for continuity corrections, the optional use of the t-distribution when calculating confidence intervals, better dialog for in/excluding studies, some improvements of the interface, and automatic resizing of the graphs based on preferences settings. There are also some additional small changes and fixes for some minor bugs. Release notes here.

Version 1.54

December 2006. Mainly some small fixes (one is a calculational one: in the Mantel-Haenszel output, the heterogeneity statistics could give overestimated values in 1.53) and some text revisions. Release notes here.

Version 1.53

November 2006. Mainly some small fixes (one is a calculational one: in the RD output, the T^2 set itself to zero when one excluded studies in a random effects analysis). Release notes here.

Version 1.52

October 2006. Again, no new new functionality but a fix that affects some users of non-English Windows when they attempt to access the Flash Tours via the help menu. Release notes here.

Version 1.51

October 2006. This update does not add any new functionality but fixes a bug that some users of Office versions older than 2003 experienced when creating data sets from CSV or Excel files. Release notes here.

Version 1.5

October 2006. This is the first post-validation version and now includes options to create output that is identical to that from STATA. All tests have been thoroughly checked and validated with 8 data sets with a wide variety of characteristics. It also contains new data sets from the book by Glasziou et at and some improvements of output lay-out (Annotated Forest Plot, Meta-Analysis). It fixes a bug in the random effects Exclusion Sensitivity Plot and also introduces this new illustrated Help System (regular Windows HTML help), albeit in a rudimentary version. Finally, the MIX add-in that adds some functionality to the regular Excel menus contains an updated version of the MIX Statistics Convertor and can do some conversions and calculations that will make it easier to analyze data from studies that present data in a format that is not directly compatible with MIX. Using the convertor, correlation coefficient data from studies only reporting the association measure and the sample size can now be converted for analysis with the comparative data input method. Release notes here.

Version 1.4

August 2006. This is the version that was used at the start of the validation process. The results of all tests are in line with results from STATA's meta-analysis commands, but a couple of minor discrepancies (due to differencs in the continuity correction) are still present. This version also has some new plots and output sheets can now be unlocked and edited in detail. Release notes here.

Version 1.3

July 2006. This is the first version to include a separate Excel add-in that includes the fucntionality of start MIX from within a regular Excel session. The way data sets are created and saved has also received a make-over. This version fixes calculation bugs in some variance calculations. Release notes here.

Version 1.2

March 2006. In this version, some of the output has undergone a major make-over and the export functionality has again been improved. Zero-cell continuity corrections now also includes the inverse-group method. Copying output has become easier and checking for updates or subscribing to the mailing-list can ben done from within the Help menu. Release notes here.

Version 1.1

December 2005. This version introduces the option to import CSV files and also includes a working version of the trim-and-fill analysis. The export options have been expanded and the program can be downloaded in several versions (with or without tutorials). Release notes here.

Version 1.02

November 2005. Essentially the same as 1.0, but containing some minor bug fixes for users with Office/Excel 2000. Release notes here.

Version 1.0

October 2005. This is the first public version of the MIX program. Release notes here.
